The best year of the best years of your life? The S6 Experience at Morrison’s Academy begins with laughter on the banks of Loch Tay and culminates with a joyous Celebration Ball at Crieff Hydro.
In August, a residential orientation focuses on leadership skills with raft building, high ropes and teambuilding challenges. Existing friendships are deepened and new ones forged.
Opportunities to serve abound with the Head Boy and Girl leading a team of House Officials and all S6 students are invited to become School Prefects. Academic study remains our primary focus with the S6 Commitment comprising a mix of Advanced Highers, Highers and, in a few cases, National 5s ensuring that all pupils embark upon a balanced and meaningful programme. The programme also includes volunteering and participation in co-curricular activities. Recent former pupils report that it is an excellent preparation for university.
Every student benefits from the close support of a dedicated S6 Tutor, as well as a UCAS adviser. Alongside the academic diet we offer interest courses in a diverse range of subjects including debating skills, popular culture and survival cookery. The culmination of the year is the S6 Fortnight, a programme of activities which has recently included paintballing, sushi tasting, volunteering in the local community, musical recitals and mystery days.
The recurring themes of ambition, contribution and transition come to full flowering with students ready for the next phase of their careers and the support of lifelong friendships.
