Bo'ness and Kinneil Railway

Monday, 09 Oct 2017

There was great excitement as the bus arrived in Bo’ness as Nursery and Primary 1 children alighted to the sound of a train’s air breaks. Within 10 minutes of our arrival we were sat on the train clutching our tickets and waiting for the conductor. We had time for a quick snack before the first tunnel hit us and there was a collective scream from all the children! This was repeated for every tunnel much to the amusement of the other travellers. We watched avidly as the engine was changed from the front to the back and even saw or rather heard, a modern high speed train whizz by. We were soon back on the train heading for home and four screams later we arrived in time to interact with the station staff and see ‘Thomas’ being filled up with water and coal. After lunch we visited the museum which was full of amazing trains and memorabilia which we could interact with and everyone enjoyed sorting letters in the Royal Mail train. Signal points were changed and teddies found. It was a fabulous day for the children and we soon arrived back at School ready to see our families.
