Music & Drama
Every pupil has a chance to shine and can participate in our co-curricular music programme, no matter their skill level or age. There is a great range of musical groups at our school from ‘Stringlets’ (P2 Violin introduction) and ‘Tooters’ (Primary recorder workshops) to Junior and Senior Orchestras, Jazz Bands and Choirs.
We offer concert opportunities that stay in the hearts and minds of our pupils long after their school career is over. For example, our annual Christmas Choral concert has seen a combined school choir of over 200 voices perform such works as the Jenkins’ Requiem, Handel’s Zadok the Priest and Vaughan William’s Fantasia on Christmas Carols. Our Jazz and Popular musicians often perform in a hired venue or jazz club for an authentic night of entertainment. In addition, our Celtic Rock band has performed at a variety of events, including at the Scotstoun stadium.
We also have a well-established tradition of staged musicals. Highly successful recent shows include “Our House” and "Thoroughly Modern Millie" in the Senior School and “Alice in Wonderland” in Primary. Pupils have the option of receiving specialist peripatetic drama lessons in school.
We have a unique musical partnership with the Louise Schroeder Gymnasium in Munich, which involves many pupils from both schools in alternate annual "home and away" exchange visits, whether Big Band style or as a full symphony Orchestra. Morrison's musicians also currently play in the Perth Youth Orchestra and Central Groups, National Children's Orchestra of Scotland and the National Youth Choir of Scotland.
