The Combined Cadet Force (CCF) is a voluntary activity and is open to all pupils in S2 – S6. Through the CCF, our cadets experience a wide range of activities designed to develop responsibility, resourcefulness, self-reliance, confidence and leadership.
Our CCF meets weekly, with cadets receiving training in ‘drill’, military tactics, weapon safety and firing, navigation, first aid and lifesaving from our own well qualified school staff. Cadets are encouraged to develop some of these skills further through attending leadership courses at the National Cadet Centre in Frimley Park and by competing with other schools in shooting and military tactics competitions. This provides our pupils with the opportunity to test their skills and to forge new friendships with cadets from other schools.
Each year there are numerous opportunities for our cadets to attend adventure training courses in a wide variety of activities including diving, sailing, mountaineering and mountain biking to name but a few. Our cadets also have the opportunity to travel further afield in a huge number of heavily subsidised trips and most recently cadets have visited Norway, Spain and Canada. The highlight for most cadets is, however, the annual summer camp which sees cadets travel to one of the UK’s military bases for a week long camp involving a whole host of exciting and challenging activities.
