Events & Alumni Officer

Closing date: 24.01.2020

Full time - Events & Alumni Officer

External Relations Department
Reports to: Head of External Relations
Salary: Circa £22k depending on experience

A New Year and a fresh start

Two exciting opportunities are now available to become part of Morrison’s Academy’s growing External Relations Department.  Founded in 1860, Morrison’s Academy is Perthshire’s leading Independent Day School. We are a friendly, family-orientated school and provide quality education to approximately 500 pupils from ages 3 to18 years.

Our External Relations Department is responsible for the Marketing, Admissions and Alumni activities of the school.  The department is one of the school’s key commercial support functions. This past year has seen the creation of a new Head of Department position and the development of new strategic plans and objectives.  We are now ready to continue building the team to deliver our plans and are seeking two talented individuals, a Marketing Officer and an Events & Alumni Officer.

About the role - Events & Alumni Officer
We are looking for a personable, detail oriented person, who loves building relationships, organising events and being a host.  In our department, no two days are the same, one day you might be designing an event invitation and a guest list, the next talking with a former pupil in Hong Kong.  As a school, we organise a wide variety of events for pupils and families, alumni and the wider community. Events can range from hosting a Nursery Nativity to organising a fundraising ball, to supporting community wide events, to helping former pupils organise a reunion.  With a portion of the role focused on Alumni it is just as important to have a genuine interest in getting to know our former pupils and the heritage of our school. You will be managing their contact details, keeping them abreast of developments in the school and managing our annual giving campaign.  While the role is full time with working hours usually being between 08.30 - 16.30, some work outwith normal school hours will be required to support events.

About you
You might be degree educated but most important is the experience you will have gained in previous roles.  You will be an enthusiastic self starter who enjoys a challenge.  You will be looking for a role that will stretch your capabilities and allow you to develop your skills, which could lead to more responsibility within the team over time. Whether you are the lead organiser of an event or not, project management and strong organisational skills, high standards of quality and a customer centred philosophy are paramount.  You will be personable and able to represent the school in different environments and with a variety of people. You will be a natural networker, looking for ways to keep our Alumni connected to the school and with our current families. You will also have a creative flare and an eye for detail.

What we can offer you
A great team and working environment: Working in Morrison’s Academy’s External Relations department you will be part of a small, friendly and supportive team who work collaboratively to get the job done.  With over 120 staff members in the school you will have opportunities to work with a wide variety of inspiring colleagues on a wide range of activities, not to mention our lovely pupils and their families.  Working in a school is very rewarding; it allows you to see the immediate impact that your efforts make on the lives of our pupils and families.

Career and development opportunities: We are committed to continuing professional development and support our teams in improving their skills and developing new ones.  Couple this with all of the informal opportunities provided in a diverse role and a supportive manager and you can rest assured that you will constantly grow and learn new skills.

A great location: The school is located in Crieff, an easy commute from the central belt, Perth and the surrounding rural communities.  The school is located in the centre of this bustling market town and provides easy access to a good selection of local amenities.

Salary and a whole host of benefits: A competitive salary and benefits package is available for the right candidate, with a salary that is likely to be in the region of £22k (experience dependent), with pension scheme and some flexible benefits including generous holiday, discounted school fees and access to wrap around care services while you are working.
