Secondary
At the heart of the secondary curriculum which is offered at Morrison's Academy is one key word: choice.
Pupils at Morrison's Academy have the opportunity to select subjects from a wide, modern curriculum: the system that we use is adaptable and revolves around the individual needs of the pupil. Heads of Year consult closely with parents and offer pupils helpful advice on subject choice. Every effort is made to accommodate the wishes of the student.
Academic achievement is obviously important but we also believe in developing the whole child. As befits the leading independent day school in Perthshire, we offer a broad spectrum of extra-curricular clubs and societies and, with a tradition of excellence in the Performing Arts coupled with extensive, healthy, sporting opportunities (from rugby to cross-country, mountaineering to kayaking) we are confident that every pupil has the chance to find, choose, participate and evolve within his/her own discipline(s). Some of our former pupils go on to achieve national and international fame (Ewan McGregor and Simon Taylor, for instance) while many pupils are simply grateful that Morrison's introduced them to lifelong hobbies or interests.
Although the reputation of our school is made up of many factors such as results and extra-curricular activities, one of Morrison's Academy's greatest achievements is its recognised ability to produce young men and women who are fine citizens. The firm yet fair approach to discipline demands that pupils dress smartly in school uniform and are considerate towards others.
When they leave at the end of S6, Morrisonians are mature individuals who have developed that invaluable balance between confidence and humility. Morrison's Academy's inclusive and caring environment produces great ambassadors for the school: young men and women who are equipped with academic qualifications and key skills for the future.
