Primary 4 - 6
As the children move on into the upper stages of the Primary School the core subjects continue to be developed.
However, expectations and challenges become higher and the pupils are introduced to a broadening curriculum. In P4 the children start French using ‘La Jolie Ronde', an excellent introductory course designed for the Primary School. This continues in P5 and then in P6 the pupils start to be taught French by a member of the Modern Languages Department. Their aesthetic development is maintained in the PE department, music department and the Home Economics room.
The pupils are engaged in many different ways within the classroom and are learning new skills and approaches to their work. There is an excellent balance between practical, oral and written work and the children are increasingly encouraged to think for themselves as well as working cooperatively with others in group situations.
Beyond the classroom there are an increasing number of extra curricular activities on offer and the children are positively encouraged to become involved with the wider aspects of school life. Pupils get the chance in P5 and P6 to work with Scottish Opera and in P6 the children have their first experience of a residential visit, taking them beyond the immediate environs of Crieff.
