The P1-P3 Family Ceilidh

On Saturday 20th February the pupils from Morrison's Academy dressed up in their finest tartan items and headed along to Academy Hall for the Family Ceilidh.

The night began with a loud start from the pipers, followed by The Selkirk Grace. The traditional tartan competition took place before the meal. Each table was asked to total up the number of tartan items their table members were wearing. The winning table counted an incredible 50 tartan items!

After the tasty Scottish feast, the pupils from P1, P2 and P3 performed some Scottish songs and the winners of the poetry competition recited their Scottish poems.

Then the band began to play the infectious rhythms of Scottish music; the pupils chose their dance partners and took to the dance floor for the first ceilidh dance of the evening. P1 to P3 had been learning their ceilidh dances for many weeks and were looking forward to displaying their dancing skills. The young dancers managed to encourage their family guests to join in and soon the hall was full of dancers whirling and spinning.

It was a very successful and enjoyable night.
