Morrison’s Pupil Top in Scotland
Pupils and staff at Morrison's Academy in Crieff were delighted to
hear of the success in this summer's Advanced Higher History examination of one of their pupils.
Arthur Learoyd, who was also the school's dux, emerged as the top pupil in Scotland in the 2009 History exam, scoring a remarkable 100%. Arthur has just started his undergraduate studies in History and Politics at Merton College, Oxford.
His achievement has been acknowledged by the Royal Historical Society which has awarded him the Beazley Prize for the top performing pupil in Scotland.
Head of History at Morrison's Academy, Peter Lovegrove, reacted with pleasure to the news. "Arthur is a fine young historian," he said, "and has an exciting academic career ahead of him. Reading his class essays was always an absolute pleasure. Congratulations, Arthur."
Arthur did not confine himself to his historical studies though. He was also selected to represent Scotland in the World Schools' Debating Competition in Athens earlier this year.
