Morrison’s Academy CCF’s Help for Heroes Sponsored Wak
On Monday 14 September the whole of the CCF Contingent undertook a ten-mile walk in order to raise money for the Help for Heroes charity appeal. This charity aims to provide help for service personnel who have been injured in the course of their duties in Iraq and Afghanistan.
The walk was organized by Mr Mike Clayton, who runs the CCF in the school and is a former Royal Marine. Considerable help was given by a number of local businesses; most notably Crieffs Hydro Hotel, Somerfield and Scottish Co-Op. They all provided food which ranged from pies to fresh fruit and chocolate bars.
Former pupils, current pupils, staff and their friends and family all gave generous financial support. The original target of raising £5000 was easily surpassed and in excess of £6500 has been gathered in thus far. The day was rounded off with an inspiring talk by Mr George Arnott, a Comrie resident, about his experiences as a soldier during the Second World War.
